Getting worried by the Niggle :o(

Distance: 7.9 miles
Time:79:00
Min/mile: 10:00
AvHR: 140

Well, I thought I'd try a new route for fun, but of course as yet I don't know how far it is, but about 7-8 miles! Out on my bike tomorrow to find out. I'll need to do it on the bike as it goes through a local park.

I tried base training - and while I don't know exactly how far the route was, keeping the HR down to something around 142 meant I was doing slow miles. Nearly ten minutes per mile, which felt lousy :o(

All runs in this campaign so far I've had a niggling right leg - at the top of the hamstring. This also affected the quad on the same leg, and sometimes the ITB. It was back again today. Even after a cold bath, the hip flexor is distinctly sore. I'm going to try removing the heel lift from the left shoe and see what effect that has. Next run is due for Sunday. I relented from the "try 11 miles" idea and have decided to leave that until Sunday, rather than 11 today and 13 Sunday.

Improving...

Distance: 9 miles
Time: 72:08

Comments: Approximately 8 minute miling over quite a tough route (Drift Bridge). Going well, although my right ITB and hamstring were pretty achey from early on. I wonder if I should remove my heel lift? If my posture has changed then maybe it isn't appropriate.
My rather crazy plan is to go for an eleven miler Thursday and then for a 13 miler Sunday. A quick build up, but if I can pull it off it gets me up to a relatively decent mileage by the start of the New Year. In my favour, I did a similar thing last year without any problem.

The Campaign Starts!

Run: 6 miles
Time: 51:13

Comments: Eek! Really slow, and slowing down badly towards the end. In my defence, I have had a foul lurgy for the past few days. I decided to take a few days' break and recover.

And the first name drawn is...

Hi!

Welcome to my blog, charting my progress in training for the Flora London Marathon 2005.

Oops!

Having not got a place in the ballot for FLM, going for a place via the club ballot seemed like a good idea. But then I got a place, and it was all systems go on training. Actually it wasn't, it was all systems go to get up to town to have a curry and a beer with some Runner's World mates! And tell them the news!
